Dear Brethren and Ladies,
As I sit here with my coffee, it is a
bit overwhelming to think
this article is already for March. In March I will be installed
as the Grand Royal Patron of the
Order of the Amaranth in Fresno, California at the annual Grand Court. Amaranths
is one of our Fraternal Masonic Organizations whose charitable
focus is the American Diabetes Association
(ADA). |
| So a major focus of mine throughout this coming
year is raising moneys for the fight
against diabetes. My
best friend died several
years ago from this heinous disease,
so I have reasonably made it #1
on my HIT list of things
to battle in this life.
If you would like to make a charitable tax deductable
donation to Amaranth to benefit diabetes research please contact me. And
if you would like to get involved, as
any good member of any organization, I have petitions. We would love to have
both you and your wives to participate with us in this organization
as well. Our Brother Master Masons from this organization
(known as Sir Knights) will be working hard at selling
paintings to raise money for this fight throughout the year, so
don’t be surprised if one shows up in our dining room with
a Sir Knight, all proceeds
to go to the ADA and a nice piece to
go home with the purchaser.
As many of you know, just prior to my installation, my
grandmother passed away, bringing my folks to California
for the funeral, which also gave them the opportunity to
attend our installation, which thrilled them to no end.
I want to tell you that they
were absolutely delighted to meet so many of you. I
also want to express our family’s deepest
gratitude for the
outpouring of sympathy from the lodge family.
I especially want to thank all the members of HOME
for both your help and participation, in what turned out
to be a wonderfully successful installation. I am tremendously
proud of our family here at HOME LODGE lets keep up the good
work, and we have a great year ahead we are the craft—craft
yourselves well my brothers.
Just remember – Wednesday night
is Lodge night.

Bro. Arnold M. Goldstein, S.W. |
Dear Brethren and Ladies,
We had a guest speaker, Dr. Richard Robinson, from the United
States Census Bureau at the February stated meeting. He
came to the meeting to explain to us the importance of the
census to our community. He had dinner with us, and sat
through the open meeting. We scheduled him to be the
last speaker of the open meeting to allow time for any questions
that we may have had. |
| When he got up to speak, he had some difficulty
starting his presentation. His comment latter was that
he was so impressed with Home Lodge and with the love and
friendship that was being displayed around him among the
members and family, that he was chocked up with emotion,
and he was having trouble trying to find the words to express
what he had been observing.
I think that of the three great tenants’ of Masonry, brotherly
love, relief and truth, the first and foremost of these should
be brotherly love. This is the first great tenant which
brings us together to administer relief to those around us. Without
brotherly love, Masonry is just another social club. I
want to make sure that Dr. Robinson’s observations are a
true reflection of who we are, because that is what makes
us feel so good when we come to Lodge.
We are a great Lodge that shines from the brotherly love
we see when we walk in the doors. Let’s make sure it
keeps shining.
Remember everyone; The best stress relief is a big hug.
Fraternally from
the West,
Arnold M. Goldstein, Senior Warden

Bro. Bob Borden, J.W. |
Brethren and Ladies,
My thanks and congratulations to all of you who participated
in the Junior Wardens Challenge. This challenge was intended
to encourage everyone to get to know all of our line officers
in a more personal way. A Special mention to Michael David
who received the highest score. Way to go Mike. Just
because the official challenge is over, don’t stop talking
to our officers. They are a great bunch of guys whose
friendship you will enjoy. |
And now for the answers that
you have all been waiting breathlessly for:
Mehrdad Karimi,
our Senior Deacon, is married to the lovely Elizabeth, a
former airline stewardess. Scott Weber, our Senior Steward,
used to be an executive chef. Arnold Goldstein, our Senior
Warden, used to be a gymnast. Artur Babayan, our Junior Deacon
is writing a full length feature film. Bill Rosenthal, our
Treasurer, spent his US Navy years trapped in the ship’s
laundry. Peter Kasabian, our Junior Steward, used to run
Track and Field. Wor. Steve Eberhardt, our Worshipful Master,
is the son of an ordained Baptist Minister. Barney Kort,
our Marshal, is our seasick fisherman. Gerry Deprest, our
Tiler, is the younger brother that finally outgrew his older
brother. Michael David, our Chaplain, is a Kung Fu expert.
Allen Price, our Secretary, used to be an accountant for
the US Army during WW II. Bob Borden, our Junior Warden,
is the weight lifting champ (very rarely and not recently).
I hope that you all had fun trying to match personalities to
the men.
As a follow-up to February’s article, bring your family
and friends to our Home Town Party on Wednesday, March 17,
2010. This is a great opportunity to show them what
kind of men you spend your time with. It is a good
reflection on you and you are a good reflection on them. Fraternally from the South
Bob Borden, Junior Warden |
